So I saw this trailer for a new film called Daybreakers. I'm a bit worn out on all things vampire, but maybe this has enough spin to reinvigorate the genre for me.
"Daybreakers offers an interesting twist on vampire plots. After a plague turns humans into vampires, the vampires quickly become the dominate race and greatly outnumber humans. Because of this they are becoming close to running out of the human blood they need to survive. The film stars Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill. The film hits theatres in January, 2010."

Thanks for posting that trailer. I read a synopsis a while back and didn't think much of it, but the trailer certainly has my interest.
Seems like the right time for this movie too. There's a bit of a vampire vogue and if the movie plays its cards right then it might make a very timely allegory for the current human state of dependence on oil, material consumption, etc.
The dependency and consumption allegory caught my interest as well. It's a nice twist as long as the movie stays focused on story and doesn't become too preachy.
